A very special bespoke project

Posted on September 15, 2022

When one of our staff member’s children, Sam, sent a home-made Jubilee congratulations card to Her Majesty the Queen back in June 2022, it was in the hope that she might write back. With the Queen sadly passing away on Thursday 8th September, this hope became a distant dream.

But then, unbelievably, the postman came on Saturday 10th September and delivered an envelope from Buckingham Palace, post marked the day the Queen had died. Inside was a beautiful thank you card from her Majesty. She had written back, after all!

Luckily for Sam, his mum works at just the place that would be able to help preserve this now very important piece of history. As the card was double sided, the skilled people at Camelot had to think outside the box about how to best display it. They decided to create a double frame and to place the card between two pieces of glass so that both sides of the card could be viewed. The double frame meant that turning it over didn’t necessarily mean viewing the ‘back’ of the picture.

A clear glass border ensures the card can be viewed in its entirety. We chose a stunning gold colour frame that looks like it would be right at home in Buckingham Palace!

The frames were securely fixed together and we used a special method to fill the gaps between the glass and the frame – the end result is a beautiful piece of bespoke framing, which will ensure that this special card can be displayed but will be well protected for years to come.

Whilst nothing will take away the sad loss of our Queen, the card really was a welcome sight for people in the company, and Sam now has something to treasure and remember her by for many years to come.
