Lesley Foster – Camelot in house Art Technician

When Lesley joined Camelot Pictures over 20 years ago, she started off her career in the print processing department. This is where wet and dry mounting takes place, where watercolours are given their torn edge and where printed art is generally prepared and made ready to be mounted and framed. Due to Lesley’s passion for art and her qualifications in art and design, she soon found herself working as our in house Art Technician.

Once art is printed and wet mounted, the pieces that require embellishing make their way over to Lesley’s department. Lesley begins by carefully over varnishing any artwork that isn’t going to be glazed. Then she moves on to applying glue to the areas that require embellishment. The pieces are then set into special racks to lay flat and dry – sometimes over a weekend. Once the glue is tacky, Lesley gets to work with embellishing – whether it be gold, copper or silver coloured metal leaf, textured resin to add definition or hand painted finishes to add depth. No two pieces are ever the same and each piece is a unique, bespoke work of art.

Lesley is constantly coming up with new ideas, finishes and techniques in order to create beautifully designed artwork. More and more of our pieces are featuring these extra special touches that help to create stunning pieces of art that people would love to have in their homes.

Lesley has previously worked with Wollaton Hall helping to catalogue artefacts and specimens by hand drawing all of these special items. In her spare time, Lesley produces her own artwork and makes further use of those artistic talents! At Camelot, we are proud to have talented, enthusiastic members of staff like Lesley who are passionate about what they do and what they produce. It’s an integral part of us being able to supply our customers with high quality, luxury art.
